What'd you expect?

It hit me today how much a creature of habit I can be. I walk the same steps to work. Eat the same breakfast. Read the same columns in the newspaper (do the comics count as a column?).

I'm not sure what it was that caused me to stop and think about this today. Probably just another thing I've done a million times, but stop and think I did. This is what I realized. I do the same things over and over because I expect the same outcome. Not better, not worse, just the same. I also realized that that desire for sameness could keep me from experiencing new and exciting things. Maybe there's a quicker way to work or a better sandwich to be had. Who's to say I've experienced the best yet?

I think the same can be said of our times of worship. How easy is it to become comfortable in God's presence. We know He's always there, but we can allow it to become common place. Seeking comfortability over intimacy. I was so convicted on this point. We know for a fact that with God, the BEST is always yet to come. There are new aspects of his personality that we have yet to experience and new visions of His beauty that we have yet to see. Let's expect great things of our God. He is a God of exciting and mind blowing surprises!
