Here are a few tips that I have found particularly helpful and have learned while taking voice lessons:
- Warm up!
- Open your mouth wider (this helps create space for a more full sound)
- Sing into the note (be confident in the note you're about to sing so it doesn't sound "pitchy" when you first begin singing)
- Don't raise your chin or stretch your neck to hit higher notes (hint: take a slightly deeper breath for the higher notes instead of "reaching" for them)
- Relax your neck and shoulders
- Be aware of your breathing (make sure you're using your diaphragm to breath, not your chest)
