Worship Blogthought: Coming to Church Ready

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

One thing I really took away from this past Sunday, is the importance of coming to church "ready".

Ready to be determined, ready to defeat the enemy, ready to say that no matter what....I'm going to be hopeful and expectant for God to move. It's easy when stress hits, for us to turn inward and start feeling sorry for ourselves...."man, no one ever listens to me" or "what's the point in me having a good attitude?" or "I just give up, I'll just stand here until it's over."

Let Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping for You. Psalm 33:22

God moves in an atmosphere of faith - I believe that it takes all of us, to lay down our pride, lay down tiredness, lay down negativity and come ready to serve.

Let's not show up to church and wait for someone else to make us happy. Let's arrive looking to make someone ELSE happy.

...EVEN though our in-ear system should cause our brain to blow up, or our monitors fail....though Pastor is spending a lot of time at the sound table....let's hope in God!

A woman came up to this past Sunday and told me how awesome Praise and Worship was. I was like "Wow, thank you God for your mercy!"

Let's not just settle where we are, I want personally to come up higher in this area. I encourage you to take some time before church to just stir up your faith, and come READY to let nothing shake your hope, your faith and your joy in God.

This is a really great thought, Eileen. Good word!

I remember a couple of months ago, I came to church really nervous about the songs and feeling like even though I'd practiced, there was no way I could pull off playing them correctly. Then there were all sorts of sound problems to boot! I thought to myself, "Well, you should depend on God's grace to get you through, anyway..."

But afterward, so many people told me how great it sounded. And I felt God admonish me that his grace doesn't just allow us to scrape by. Rather, when we depend on his grace in our weakness, it's actually excellent--way better than what we could have done in our own strength.
